That other album hasn't been totally abandoned quite yet. On the contrary. It's still very much alive and moving. 9 tracks completely mixed, awaiting mastering, and 3 other tracks in various stages. It'll happen sometime.

Two Days in the Dark Oddcast and album #3 update

Out of hibernation, we have a new Oddcast. This time, it's the new album -- Two Days in the Dark -- which recorded during 2 very cold weeks in February, as part of the RPM Challenge. Meanwhile, work on the other album continues at a snail's pace. It should be out sometime this year.

The Yawns have been hard at work on the latest album for last few months, and progress is going steadily and smoothly. Eight tracks are fully mixed awaiting mastering, and another 5-6 are in various stages. In an effort to completely derail the project, the Yawns are temporarily shifting focus to take part in the RPM Challenge - http://www.rpmchallenge.com/. February has been declared Record Production Month, and the challenge is to fully produce an album during the month of February. Tune in March 1, for the final product.

A brand new Oddcast this month, featuring an old collection of songs that tell the tale of brothers Tom and Randy Hanks, Tom's wife, an unfortunate boating accident, and, finally, murder. This is only the second time this saga has been presented in sequence. The first was an Awnings for Eyelids concert in the Seattle YMCA on Saturday afternoon in 2003.

The Yawns are putting together quite a record. It'll continue down the path where Telling Tomorrow from Today left off. There's still a lot to be done yet, but much has been done already. The secret weapon keyboardist rolls into town for a quick session this week.

Speaking of TTFT, Nothing's Perfect Records will be rolling out a special 5.1 edition of the Yawns' first album just in time for the holidays.

A brand new Oddcast featuring some newly remixed Awnings for Eyelids tracks that were recorded in January 2004 during the sessions that produced their album, but didn't actually make the final cut. They're pretty kickass, nonetheless, particularly the Everyyear with two drummers.

The Yawns album coming together

It's a been a productive couple of months in Tiny Town, and as a result, some details regarding the Yawns debut album are starting to take shape. There's the title, for one. Telling Tomorrow from Today will be 12 tracks in total and has turned into a collection of brand spanking new songs (i.e. Robot Camera, Lay Me Down in Fern Valley, and Use Your Inside Voice,) a few freshly reworked never-been-recorded oldies -- including a couple that are over 10 years old (i.e. Yours, The Big Tickle, and On the Phone,) and piles of sonic lunacy, yet very few guitar solos. A few outstanding items remain to be recorded at this point, but tracking is at about 90%. Then it's on to the mixing stage where someone has to make sense of aforementioned lunacy. Stay tuned.
